There are some nice hiking trails around Mill Lake. There are many signs telling about nature around the Discovery Center which was closed the day we were there (Monday).
Very nice Discovery Center. Includes interactive map showing walking trails and scenic drives. Waterloo State Park is massive, covering over 20,000 acres! Dogs are welcome but need to be on a 6ft leash.

Good place to take your dog for a short hike. Plenty of shade for the summer, just remember to bring bug spray.
